Life in Eagles Mere

Filed under: Uncategorized — eaglesmere @ 12:00 am

To those of you who don’t know, I figure I’ll give a quick rundown of what life is like up here in the mountains of PA.

Life in Eagles Mere is NOT for the faint of heart. I don’t mean the type of people who are afraid of rollercoaster rides or bunjee jumping or KISS concerts. I’m talking about the folks who forgot what life was really about or why they fell in love  in the first place.  Up here, you can’t help but remember these things, and maybe even learn a little more about them.

Eagles Mere is an old resort town that time left at the bus stop. Full of early 20th century architecture, it is built around the all natural, spring-fed  Eagles Mere Lake. With quaint shops and an outdoor lovers’ paradise, there isn’t much you need to leave town for.

Eagles Mere is the kind of place that John Denver would sing about, or that you would picture while reading Robert Frost’s poetry. It’s simplistic perfection speaks so eloquently to your soul that you start to wonder “What really matters in life? Is it really cellphones or e-mails or work,  or maybe it’s something else completely. ” Hmmmm.

Guess what?

IT IS!!! Imagine your only concern being whether to read your book in a hammock, or on a rocker on the front porch, or trying to decide between a kayak or a canoe as your vessel of choice to watch the sunset from the lake. Or the really terrible one ” What kind of Ice cream should I get when we walk over to the Sweet Shop?”……. Sounds much more like life to me. What do you think? Do you have that kind of heart?

I think you do, you just may not know it yet.

So here I am, Toby, Innkeeper at the Eagles Mere Inn, waiting to help you realize what you are missing.

I’ll tell my story next time. For now, I’ve got to prepare for our Wine Tasting Weekend.

As for Robert Frost,  I agree, ”the woods ARE lovely, dark and deep,  but I’ve got promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep”

So do you!!
