I finally have time to write a blog post, after the busiest August the Inn has ever had.
We are putting the finishing touches on our new walk-in cooler set-up, which will give us the ability to do even more with the array of local farms we’ve been working with.
Speaking of which,I recently visited a new farm, called Tewksbury-Grace, where they grow the widest assortment of vegetables I’ve ever seen in one place. They also inoculate oak logs with Shiitake spores so we have access to some wonderful, locally grown mushrooms now.
My garden did really well this year for us, and we’re still getting lots of heirloom tomatoes. Its funny how the little seeds I started in my basement in February have grown into plants that are almost as tall as I am. I’ve got seven different varieties, all of which are really good.
We re-opened our Pub, with a new name, “The Blind Pig”, which has gone over pretty well. We have had a ton of great music down there, which will continue into the fall. You can check our calendar for dates. We’ve gotten our beer list up to well over 150 beers, and I will be making some changes, and bringing in some really special beers soon.
I started preparing a new dish recently, “Beef Bourguignon wrapped in Puff Pastry”, using grass-fed beef and our own house cured and smoked bacon. Our guests who have tried it had wonderful things to say about it, so we’ll be using that recipe this Fall, and maybe we’ll make it a mainstay on our menu.
I think one of the reasons we’ve been so busy is that we’ve had several different articles written about us recently, which can be viewed in our press section. We’re also filling up for the next couple of months for the Fall foliage, so if you think you can make it up, give us a call soon for reservations.
That’s all for now, I’m sure I’ll be back with something new a little sooner this time.
