Here is a picture of Oliver and I, taking a break from splitting wood for the fireplaces at the Inn. We’ve got to keep the fires going for all of the cold tobogganners who have been coming to the Pub!! We’ve been doing a battered fish and chips special down there and it has been getting great reviews from guests. We’ve also got some Nugget Nectar in stock from Troegs Brewery(among many other great beers), if you haven’t had it yet, you really should try it. It is seasonal so it will not be available much longer. It is always excting when we have that beer around.
Another reason I am excited for this weekend is because Jay Smar, an old favorite of mine, is putting on a show at the Inn on Saturday night. He does coal mining songs, and old time and original Pa mountain music. He plays guitar, banjo, and the fiddle, and even does some flat-footin once in a while. He starts at 8 in the pub if you are interested.
There is also plenty to do during the day. You can go ice skating, ice fishing(I tried, unsuccessfully, on Tuesday), cross-country skiing, and try out the toboggan slide if it is open. If you are into cross-country skiing, we’ve gotten more snow here in the past couple of days, it doesn’t seem to ever stop snowing really. The trails are really good right now and the scenery is magnificent. If you don’t have skis remember you can borrow ours!! Or if you aren’t into being out in the cold, you can always go the wineries in the area.
Well, thats all I have for now, there is much to do to prepare for the weekend.
I’ll keep you updated on what is happening up here.
